Burlington, VT – A winter storm moving through Vermont on Tuesday is expected to bring a mix of snow and rain, creating hazardous travel conditions. The National Weather Service warns that snowfall could total up to two inches, with the potential for icy roads during the morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service, snow will begin late Monday night before transitioning to rain by Tuesday afternoon. Winds from the northwest will range from 10 to 17 mph, with temperatures peaking near 26°F. By Wednesday, conditions will improve with mostly sunny skies and a high near 20°F.

Another round of winter weather is expected Thursday, with snow and sleet likely in the afternoon, followed by a wintry mix into the evening. Road conditions may deteriorate once again, making travel difficult.

Drivers should allow extra time for commutes and stay updated on changing road conditions. Those traveling on major routes such as I-89 and US-2 should prepare for slick surfaces and reduced visibility.

A break in the winter weather is forecasted for Friday, with mostly sunny skies and temperatures near 29°F.
