Burlington, Vt. – Another warm, dry day is in store for Vermont on Wednesday, with afternoon highs reaching into the 70s and only a slight chance of showers across the southern part of the state.
According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, increasing cloud cover is expected through the afternoon, with a few scattered showers developing—mainly south of Route 4 and closer to the Massachusetts border. Most areas will remain dry, with the best chance of rainfall between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Cities like Rutland and Bennington may see brief light rain, while Montpelier, St. Johnsbury, and Burlington will likely stay dry under partly sunny skies. Road conditions will remain favorable throughout the day, with no major travel disruptions expected. Still, drivers in southern Vermont should keep an eye out for slick roads late in the afternoon.
With temperatures running 5 to 10 degrees above average, residents are encouraged to stay hydrated and keep windows cracked in parked vehicles. This stretch of warm, dry weather is typical for mid-May but comes after a cooler start to the month.
Any showers that do form are expected to taper off by sunset. Another update from the NWS is expected early Thursday with the latest on the weekend outlook.
