Burlington, Vt. – A stretch of cooler, more comfortable weather has settled over Vermont today, but isolated towns in the southeast could still push 90°F by afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, high temperatures across most of the state will range from the upper 70s to mid 80s, with lower humidity values making conditions feel less oppressive. Areas along the lower Connecticut River Valley, including Springfield and Brattleboro, may climb to around 90°F.
While today stays dry, forecasters are tracking an increasing chance for showers and embedded thunderstorms beginning Friday, particularly in central and southern Vermont. No severe weather is expected yet, but residents should stay alert for updated advisories.
Drivers and outdoor workers in Rutland, Barre, and Montpelier should prepare for warmer pavement conditions today despite the overall cooler trend. If traveling along I-91 or Route 7, expect varying conditions with occasional gusty breezes.
The National Weather Service recommends staying hydrated, especially in warmer pockets of the state, and keeping devices charged ahead of potential Friday storms.
Humidity will remain low through Thursday before conditions turn unsettled late week.
