Burlington, VT – The National Weather Service in Burlington reports that rainfall remains on track to arrive tonight, moving from southern into northern Vermont and neighboring northern New York. Though the onset has been slightly delayed, light to moderate showers are expected to spread through the region overnight and into early Monday morning.
According to the National Weather Service Burlington office, probabilities for rainfall increase after midnight, with the highest chances—ranging from 60% to 80%—across Rutland, Springfield, and Middlebury between 3 a.m. and 9 a.m. Monday. Northern areas, including Burlington, Plattsburgh, and St. Albans, show lower but steady rain chances near 45–55%.
Meteorologists noted a slight downward trend in rainfall totals due to a dry airmass across the region. However, breezy foothill conditions are expected overnight as a low-level jet strengthens, bringing gusts that could impact early-morning commuters.
Showers are forecast to linger into early Tuesday morning (Oct. 14) before tapering off by midday. No flooding or severe weather is anticipated at this time.
Drivers should plan for wet roadways and reduced visibility during the Monday morning commute, particularly across central Vermont.
