Burlington, VT – Rain will transition to snow late this afternoon across much of Vermont, creating slick conditions for the evening commute, according to the National Weather Service in Burlington.
Forecasters say a 2–4 hour period of snow is expected between 4 and 8 p.m. Monday, with snow potentially turning moderate to heavy at times in the Champlain Valley and north-central Vermont.
Snowfall totals of 1 to 3 inches are expected, enough to cause slippery roads and reduced visibility during the drive home. The weather service is advising drivers to allow extra time and exercise caution on highways and local roads.
The brief snow event is expected to end by late evening as temperatures continue to drop overnight. Motorists in Burlington, St. Albans, Montpelier, and surrounding towns should prepare for rapidly changing road conditions as rain turns to snow.
Drivers are encouraged to check updated forecasts and road reports before heading out.
