Burlington, VT – The National Weather Service in Burlington has issued a Winter Storm Watch for southeastern St. Lawrence County, New York, as lake-effect snow is forecast to develop Thanksgiving Day through early Saturday.

Forecasters warn that snow accumulations of 4 to 10 inches are possible in the most persistent snow bands, accompanied by blustery winds and reduced visibility. The heaviest snow is expected Thursday and Friday, posing significant travel hazards, particularly for those returning home after the Thanksgiving holiday.

Temperatures will remain cold enough for snow to accumulate on roads, making slick and difficult travel conditions likely at times. Drivers are urged to monitor forecasts, avoid unnecessary travel during snow bands, and prepare for low visibility and icy roads.
