Burlington, VT – Vermont residents should brace for another bitterly cold night and Monday morning as Arctic conditions persist. Wind chills are forecast to drop as low as -25°F in areas like Brookfield and Bolton Valley, creating dangerously cold conditions.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), localized wind chills will remain below zero throughout Sunday night into Monday morning. With temperatures near 1°F overnight, the wind will make conditions feel much colder. Officials advise limiting time outdoors and wearing multiple layers if venturing out.
Monday brings a slight reprieve with a daytime high near 23°F, though wind chills may still reach as low as -9°F. Snow is expected to move into the area after 5 p.m., with accumulations of 1 to 3 inches possible by early Tuesday.
For those traveling, roads could become slick and hazardous during Monday night’s snow showers. Drivers should exercise caution and plan for slower commutes. The cold continues into Tuesday, with a high near 30°F and a chance of additional snow showers.
Looking ahead to Christmas Day, temperatures will climb slightly, reaching 26°F under partly sunny skies, offering a break from the recent frigid weather.
Residents should monitor forecasts for updates and follow safety tips to stay warm. Keep emergency supplies in vehicles and ensure pets are sheltered from the cold.
