Burlington, VT – A wintry blast is set to bring snow, freezing rain, and travel disruptions across Vermont and northern New York starting late Friday. Local residents should expect dangerous driving on I-89 and surrounding roads through Sunday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 8 p.m. Friday through 2 p.m. Sunday. Forecasters predict snow totals between 3 to 7 inches, with ice accumulation up to three-tenths of an inch. The heaviest impacts are expected late Friday into Saturday, with sleet and freezing rain continuing into Sunday morning.

Power outages are possible due to ice-laden trees and power lines. Officials urge residents to charge devices, prepare emergency kits, and avoid unnecessary travel during hazardous periods.
