Burlington, VT – Rain threatens to soak summer weekend plans across Vermont on Saturday as another round of thunderstorms rolls through the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms are likely between Saturday morning and late afternoon, with rain chances peaking at 80%. Parts of Chittenden, Washington, and Franklin Counties could see over a quarter inch of rainfall, with localized areas experiencing heavier totals. While the overall flash flooding risk has decreased since Thursday, forecasters warn that brief, intense downpours may still lead to minor flooding, especially along Route 7 and Route 2.

Drivers should use caution during afternoon travel and avoid low-lying roads if water collects. Keep your devices charged and avoid unnecessary travel if thunder rumbles. Rain is expected to taper off by Saturday evening, setting up a drier Sunday.

Humidity will rise Sunday into Monday, with temperatures climbing to 91°F in Burlington on Monday — the hottest day in the five-day stretch. Another round of showers is expected Monday night into Tuesday, keeping Vermont in a wet and steamy pattern heading into the Fourth of July week.
