South Burlington, VT – Vermont State Police are renewing their appeal for information in the decades-old homicide of Marsha Lamonda, marking the anniversary of her reported disappearance and asking anyone with knowledge of the case to come forward.
According to the Vermont State Police, Marsha Lamonda, 25, was reported missing to the South Burlington Police Department on July 6, 1977, Wednesday, after she had last been seen about a week earlier.
Investigators said Lamonda’s disappearance remained a mystery for years until her body was discovered 10 years later, on August 25, 1987, Tuesday, off Bean Road in Charlotte, Vermont.
Authorities determined that her death was a homicide. Despite the passage of nearly five decades, the case remains unsolved.
Vermont State Police said investigators continue to seek information that could help identify those responsible. Officials are asking anyone with information related to Lamonda’s case—or any other unsolved homicide in Vermont—to contact the Vermont State Police Major Crimes Unit.
Cold case investigations often remain active for years as advances in forensic technology and new witness information can generate investigative leads.
