Vermont is kicking off the first weekend of spring with a mix of rain, snow, and fluctuating temperatures. Residents should prepare for a wet start on Thursday night, followed by a chance of snow Friday morning before a gradual warm-up into the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, rain is expected to move into Burlington late Thursday night, with heavy showers and gusty winds up to 23 mph. As temperatures drop into the mid-30s, rain may transition to snow early Friday morning, especially before 9 a.m. Little to no accumulation is expected, but slick roads could impact the morning commute.

By Friday afternoon, temperatures will reach the mid-40s, and the skies will gradually clear. However, another round of rain showers is possible Saturday afternoon, with a 40% chance of precipitation. Winds will be moderate, with gusts reaching 31 mph at times.

Sunday offers a mix of sun and clouds, with a high near 37°F. Another chance of rain and snow showers will develop overnight into Monday as temperatures dip into the upper 20s.

Drivers should remain cautious on major roadways, including I-89, especially during Friday morning’s potential snow. The weekend will see fluctuating conditions, so travelers should stay updated with local forecasts.
