Montpelier, VT – Vermont residents are encouraged to safely dispose of unused or expired prescription medications this Saturday, October 25, during the DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The statewide event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at participating law enforcement agencies and collection sites across Vermont.
According to the Vermont State Police, the program offers a secure way to remove potentially dangerous or unused medications from homes, helping to prevent misuse and environmental harm. Participants can find a nearby drop-off site by visiting dea.gov/takebackday.
Officials emphasize that properly disposing of unwanted medications not only helps reduce the risk of addiction but also keeps prescription drugs out of waterways and landfills. No questions are asked at drop-off locations, and the service is free and anonymous.
