Burlington, VT – The National Weather Service in Burlington has issued a Wind Advisory for central and southern Vermont and parts of northern New York, where strong west winds are expected to develop Wednesday evening and persist into Thursday afternoon.
The advisory is in effect from 4 p.m. Wednesday through 1 p.m. Thursday, covering areas including Burlington, Montpelier, Rutland, Springfield, Lake Placid, and Ticonderoga.
Forecasters expect sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts reaching up to 50 mph, particularly overnight between midnight and 6 a.m. Thursday. The strongest winds will occur in the Champlain Valley, eastern Adirondacks, and southern Vermont, especially between Ludlow and Strafford.
These conditions may down tree limbs, cause scattered power outages, and make travel difficult for high-profile vehicles on exposed roadways such as I-89, Route 7, and Route 4.
Residents are urged to secure outdoor objects, avoid parking beneath trees, and use caution during the overnight hours when winds peak.
