Burlington, Vermont – Winter has made its presence known across Vermont and New Hampshire this season, with snow steadily piling up from late September through early February, especially in northern and mountainous areas. Travel disruptions, prolonged snow cover, and frequent plowing have become routine across much of the region.

According to the National Weather Service and NOAA’s National Snowfall Analysis, northern Vermont and northern New Hampshire have recorded between 2 and 10 feet of snow since Sept. 30. The highest seasonal totals are concentrated in the Green Mountains and the White Mountains, where elevation-driven snowfall has consistently boosted accumulations.

In Vermont, areas around Burlington, Stowe, and Montpelier generally fall into the 3- to 6-foot range so far this season, with higher totals in the Northeast Kingdom and along the spine of the Greens. New Hampshire communities including Conway, Lincoln, and Littleton have seen similar numbers, with some mountain zones approaching the upper end of the range.

Farther south, including Manchester, Nashua, and the Upper Valley, seasonal totals taper off but still exceed one to three feet in many locations, enough to create recurring slick roads and stubborn snowpack.

State transportation agencies continue to remind drivers to allow extra stopping distance and watch for refreeze during overnight hours. With winter ongoing, additional storms could further add to seasonal totals, and more advisories may be issued as conditions evolve through the remainder of the season.
