BURLINGTON, Vt. – Light rain will return to northern Vermont late tonight into Wednesday morning, but conditions are expected to improve by midweek with clear skies and rising temperatures heading into the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, showers are likely after 2 a.m. Wednesday, with up to a tenth of an inch of rain possible. Temperatures will hold near 60 overnight before rebounding into the mid-70s during the day Wednesday. Winds from the south at 7 to 9 mph could make the scattered rain more widespread through the Champlain Valley.
Commuters in Burlington, South Burlington, and Essex should prepare for slick roads early Wednesday, though skies are expected to clear by Wednesday night. By Thursday, sunshine returns with highs near 79 degrees. Friday brings even warmer conditions, topping out at 82, with light winds.
The warmest stretch of the week arrives this weekend, with highs reaching the mid-80s Saturday. Scattered showers are possible again late Saturday night into Sunday, but much of the weekend should remain partly sunny and comfortable.
Showers may return to start the new workweek, but no extended wet pattern is expected.
