BURLINGTON, Vt. – Vermonters are waking up to a cold, frosty start this Saturday morning as temperatures dip into the low 30s. The National Weather Service in Burlington has a Frost Advisory in effect until 9 a.m. for the Champlain Valley and portions of northwest Vermont, where sensitive plants could be damaged by the early chill.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will rebound quickly under sunny skies today, with highs reaching the low 60s by afternoon. Residents should cover or bring in tender plants early this morning before frost melts away. By Sunday, a new system will bring increasing clouds, gusty south winds, and rain—marking the end of this calm fall stretch.

Showers are likely late Sunday into Monday morning, with occasional gusts up to 30 mph along I-89 and Lake Champlain. Rainfall totals should range from a quarter to three-quarters of an inch. Motorists should expect slick roads and reduced visibility during heavier showers, particularly during Monday’s commute.

According to meteorologists, another cool push arrives midweek, keeping daytime highs in the 50s and setting up another potential frost by Thursday morning. Despite the unsettled pattern, the mix of sunshine and showers will bring vibrant fall color displays across the Green Mountains—offering one of the last prime weekends for leaf-viewing drives and harvest events across northern Vermont and northern New York.
