Winooski, Vermont – A fraud investigation quickly escalated into a significant drug bust after police uncovered fentanyl and cocaine during a targeted search.

According to the Williston Police Department, officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Leclair Avenue in Winooski following an investigation into credit card theft and fraudulent purchases exceeding $3,000. The warrant was carried out after investigators linked the activity to a suspect using stolen cards across the area.

Police identified Lacey Norton, 30, of Winooski as the primary suspect. During the search, officers seized multiple stolen credit cards and evidence tied to fraudulent transactions. Investigators also recovered approximately 30.22 grams of crack cocaine and 23.43 grams of fentanyl, significantly elevating the severity of the case.

Norton was taken into custody and held on $5,000 bail. A second individual, Annette Peeters, 54, was also arrested at the scene on an unrelated active warrant and held on $500 bail.

The case highlights ongoing concerns about fentanyl distribution in Chittenden County, where even smaller investigations can uncover larger drug operations. Authorities urge residents to monitor financial activity closely and report suspicious charges immediately.

Additional charges or developments could follow as the investigation continues.
