Burlington, VT – Vermont State Police are renewing their appeal for information in the decades-old cold case involving the death of Keith Destromp, whose body was found on Burlington’s waterfront more than 30 years ago.

According to the Vermont State Police Major Crime Unit, Destromp, 35, was discovered deceased on May 30, 1989, inside the long-abandoned Pease Grain building along the city’s waterfront. His death was determined to be a homicide resulting from severe blunt force trauma.

Destromp was reportedly known to frequent the area, which at the time was a common gathering location for members of the homeless community. Despite an official ruling from the Chief Medical Examiner and efforts by investigators, no suspects have ever been named, and the case remains open.

In an effort to generate new leads, police are again asking the public to come forward. Anyone with information is urged to contact Captain Schmidt at the Vermont State Police Major Crime Unit. Tips may also be submitted anonymously at vsp.vermont.gov/tipsubmit, or by texting the keyword “VTIPS” to 274637 (CRIMES).

The Vermont State Police emphasized that even small details could be key to solving the case and providing closure after more than three decades.
