Charlotte, VT – The mystery surrounding the disappearance and death of a 25-year-old woman more than four decades ago continues to haunt Vermont authorities.
Marsha Lamonda was reported missing to the South Burlington Police Department on July 6, 1977. She had last been seen approximately a week earlier. Her disappearance remained a cold case until her remains were found a decade later, on August 25, 1987, near Bean Road in Charlotte.
According to the Vermont State Police, her death was determined to be a homicide. Investigators have yet to identify a suspect, and the case remains unsolved.
On Monday, state police renewed their appeal for information in the case, urging anyone who might know something about Lamonda’s disappearance or death to contact the Major Crimes Unit. Authorities continue to treat the case as an open investigation.
Vermont law enforcement officials maintain an active list of unsolved homicides and missing persons and periodically revisit these cases in the hope that advancements in forensic science or new witness information can provide a breakthrough.
Those with any information about Lamonda’s case, or any other unsolved homicide in Vermont, are asked to visit vsp.vermont.gov/unsolved/homicide or contact state police directly.
Lamonda’s case remains one of the state’s most lingering mysteries, and investigators hope that renewed public awareness may help finally bring answers and justice.
