Burlington, VT – A significant weather system is expected to bring winter conditions to Vermont and Northern New York tonight. Areas from the Champlain Valley to the northern reaches of both states will experience light snow and freezing rain, with gusty winds compounding the danger.
According to the National Weather Service, Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for parts of Vermont and New York from 5 p.m. today until 11 a.m. Thursday. These advisories will impact northern counties such as Chittenden, Franklin, and Washington, where snow accumulations of up to 2 inches could be expected.
In addition, a Wind Advisory is in place for Northern New York and the northern Champlain Valley in Vermont from 2 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. Strong gusts of wind, up to 40 mph, could cause power outages and hazardous driving conditions.
