Burlington, VT – A steady and heavy rain will continue across northern New York and Vermont tonight, with the heaviest showers expected to move in through early Saturday morning. Areas such as Bradford, Burlington, and Gouverneur are facing a high likelihood of rainfall, with chances peaking at 90% as the evening progresses.

According to the National Weather Service, the rain is expected to last through the night and into Saturday morning. As the front moves through, precipitation will be most intense from 8 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Saturday. This means travelers should expect slick roads, especially in rural and mountainous areas, with reduced visibility in heavy downpours.

Cities like Montpelier and Tupper Lake are expected to see rain chances of around 85% to 90% through Friday night, gradually tapering off after dawn. The rain will then shift to lighter showers as the day progresses, with much drier conditions expected by Saturday afternoon.

The most notable change comes Sunday, as the region will experience a dramatic shift to dry and warmer weather, with minimal rain expected. The NWS notes that a 5% chance of rain remains through the weekend, marking a stark contrast to the current wet weather.

Residents are advised to prepare for rainfall tonight and tomorrow morning, and to expect a clear, dry day on Sunday as temperatures rise.
