Danville, IL – A Danville man has been sentenced to six and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated battery of an elderly person, according to the Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s Office.

On September 12, 2025, Robert Brockwell, 39, entered a guilty plea to aggravated battery of a person age 60 or older, a Class 3 felony. Judge Karen Wall presided over the plea and sentencing. In addition to prison time, Brockwell will serve six months of mandatory supervised release following his incarceration.

According to prosecutors, the charge stemmed from an incident on November 29, 2024, when Danville Police responded to a domestic battery report at a residence on Grace Street. The victim reported that Brockwell had been yelling at “imaginary people.” When told to quiet down, Brockwell allegedly threatened to kill the victim and struck him with a chair.

State’s Attorney Jacqueline M. Lacy commended the victim for coming forward and thanked police for their response. “We commend the victim’s bravery and remain committed to prosecuting perpetrators of domestic violence in order to protect the safety of families in Vermilion County,” Lacy said.

Brockwell, a repeat offender, will serve his sentence in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
