According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, the Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. Friday, covering the Northwest and East Valley, Scottsdale, Glendale, Goodyear, Queen Creek, and all of Maricopa County. Daily highs from 109°F to 118°F will dominate afternoons, while overnight lows remain dangerously warm near 90°F, offering little relief. The prolonged heat poses a significant threat for those without adequate cooling.
Public health officials urge residents to stay indoors during peak hours, hydrate frequently, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Outdoor work should be limited to early morning or evening hours. Cooling centers are open across the Valley — residents can dial 2-1-1 for locations.
