LAS VEGAS — Many Las Vegas Strip restaurants switch to fixed-price, or prix fixe, menus for Valentine’s Day to manage demand and streamline service during one of the busiest dining nights of the year.

Over the years, fixed-price menus have become popular in upscale and resort restaurants on the Strip, allowing establishments to charge premium prices. While some diners feel that prix-fixe menus are price-gouging, this practice helps restaurants better prepare for the increased number of diners on Valentine’s Day. This is not just limited to Las Vegas restaurants.

Maiko Kyogoku, owner of Bessou in New York City, explained:

“Valentine’s Day is one of the busiest days of the year, so a prix fixe helps us prepare effectively,” he adds, “It’s a real lifesaver for us to know in advance how many people are coming and what dishes are being ordered.”

While traditional à la carte dining is rare on Valentine’s Day, diners can enjoy a uniquely curated menu limited to the occasion. For example, Barry’s Downtown Prime at Circa Las Vegas is offering a $179 per person prix fixe menu with elevated dishes, and La Cave Wine & Food Hideaway at Wynn Las Vegas will have a four-course prix-fixe dinner.

Because Valentine’s Day reservations sell out far in advance and capacity is limited, it is recommended that diners book their table early.
