Tucson, Arizona – Scattered light showers are expected across parts of southern Arizona today, with a slight chance of thunderstorms mainly southeast of Tucson.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service in Tucson, a combination of mid- and high-level moisture along with weak atmospheric lift will support spotty showers Saturday. The best chances are expected south and southeast of Tucson, including areas near Vail, Sahuarita, and Sierra Vista.

Rainfall amounts are forecast to remain light, generally producing little to no impact. While isolated locations could see up to a quarter inch of rain, most areas are expected to receive less than a tenth of an inch. Any thunderstorms that develop today are expected to be weak and brief.

Travelers along major corridors such as Interstate 10, Interstate 19, Arizona Highway 90, and nearby state routes may encounter brief periods of wet pavement, particularly during passing showers. Widespread travel disruptions are not anticipated.

Looking ahead, a low-pressure system tracking through Sonora, Mexico, will bring a continued slight chance of showers Sunday into Monday, mainly along the International Border. Areas near Nogales and southern Santa Cruz County are most likely to see additional light rainfall during this time.

Despite the unsettled pattern, the National Weather Service emphasizes that overall impacts will remain minimal through the weekend. No flooding or significant weather hazards are expected due to the limited rainfall totals.

For commuters, outdoor workers, and weekend travelers, conditions may change briefly with passing showers, but dry periods will dominate. Drivers are encouraged to remain cautious on roads during any rainfall, especially during early morning or evening travel.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts for timing refinements as the weak system moves through the region. Drier conditions are expected to return after the system exits early next week.
