Madison, WI – A Madison man was arrested early Sunday morning on multiple drug and weapons charges following a traffic stop on Langdon Street.
According to the UW-Madison Police Department, officers stopped a vehicle at approximately 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2024, after noticing that the license plate was reportedly registered to a different vehicle. Upon approaching the car, officers smelled marijuana and observed what appeared to be marijuana inside the vehicle.
A subsequent search of the vehicle reportedly revealed additional marijuana, several individually packaged baggies of cocaine, various drug paraphernalia, and a loaded AR-15 rifle. The driver, identified as 19-year-old Jaylen M. Smith of Madison, was not affiliated with UW-Madison.
Smith was arrested and booked into the Dane County Jail on several charges, including possession of cocaine with intent to deliver, possession of THC, possession of drug paraphernalia, felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized vehicle registration plate, and bail jumping.
