Salt Lake City, UT – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 3 p.m. this afternoon through noon Monday for the Western Uinta Mountains, where accumulating snow is expected to make travel hazardous, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Salt Lake City.
Forecasters call for 3 to 9 inches of snow, mainly above 8,500 feet, with the heaviest totals near Mirror Lake Highway and Moon Lake. The snow will begin late this afternoon and continue overnight, tapering off by midday Monday.
“Winter driving conditions are expected, including Mirror Lake Highway,” the NWS cautioned early Sunday. Motorists are advised to slow down, use extra caution, and check road conditions before heading into mountain areas.
The system will bring another round of early-season mountain snow, following several cold fronts that have already blanketed Utah’s high country in recent weeks. Drivers can check live travel and road conditions through the Utah Department of Transportation at udottraffic.utah.gov or view the latest snowfall forecasts at weather.gov/slc/winter.
