Salt Lake City, UT – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the Wasatch Mountains, Uinta Mountains, and Central Utah ranges from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday, as a new round of mountain snow moves across northern and central Utah.

According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, widespread snow totals of 4 to 8 inches are expected, with localized amounts near 12 inches in higher elevations such as the Cottonwoods and Wasatch Plateau. Snow will begin early Sunday morning in northern ranges and spread southward through midday.

The storm is expected to bring winter driving conditions across major mountain routes, including I-80 through Parleys Summit, Mirror Lake Highway, Indian Canyon, and US-6 near Scofield. Visibility may drop quickly during heavier snow bands.

Travelers are urged to slow down and use caution, and to check UDOT’s traffic website (udottraffic.utah.gov) for updated road conditions before heading into the mountains.
