Blanding, Utah – Snow will begin coating highways across southeast Utah by 11 p.m. tonight, setting up slick driving conditions ahead of the Friday morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 11 p.m. tonight through 11 p.m. Friday for southeast Utah, including Blanding, Bluff and Mexican Hat. Forecasters expect 3 to 6 inches of snow, with wind gusts up to 35 mph that could reduce visibility in open areas.

Roads along U.S. Highway 191 and U.S. Highway 163 may turn snow-covered overnight, especially on bridges and elevated stretches. Gusty winds could cause patchy blowing snow across exposed desert highways, briefly lowering visibility for early-morning drivers and commercial traffic moving through the Four Corners region.

The Utah Department of Transportation urges motorists to slow down, increase following distance and check road conditions by dialing 511 before traveling. Drivers should allow extra time Friday morning and again late Friday afternoon as snowfall continues.

Snow is expected to taper late Friday night, but icy spots could linger into early Saturday as temperatures drop. Additional advisories remain possible if snow bands redevelop across the region.
