Salt Lake City, UT – A winter weather advisory is in effect for several regions in Utah as snow is expected to impact travel conditions from Thursday morning through Friday evening.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Salt Lake City, the Wasatch Mountains north of Interstate 80, including Logan Summit and Mantua, could see between 8 and 14 inches of snow from 6 a.m. Thursday until 6 p.m. Friday. Winter driving conditions are anticipated, and motorists are advised to use caution on mountain roads.
The Wasatch Back region, covering Park City, Huntsville, and Heber City, will also experience snowfall beginning Thursday at 6 p.m. through noon Friday. Forecasts indicate accumulations of 1 to 3 inches, with localized areas near Park City receiving up to 7 inches. This snowfall could disrupt both the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes.
Further south, Eastern Juab and Millard Counties, including Nephi, Fillmore, and Scipio, are forecasted to receive 2 to 4 inches of snow from Thursday evening through Friday morning. Higher amounts are possible along eastern benches.
The Salt Lake Valley and Northern Wasatch Front, including Salt Lake City, Ogden, West Jordan, and Sandy, will see 1 to 4 inches of snow from Thursday evening to midday Friday. Areas east of I-15, such as Cottonwood Heights and Millcreek, may experience over 6 inches due to potential lake effect snowfall.
Travelers are urged to monitor road conditions through the Utah Department of Transportation at udottraffic.utah.gov and prepare for potentially hazardous driving conditions.
