Salt Lake City, UT – Salt Lake City is experiencing one of its driest winters on record, ranking 4th lowest in snowfall history as of March 2025.

According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, the 2024–2025 winter season has brought just 18.1 inches of total snowfall to the Salt Lake City International Airport. That puts the season just behind the record-low snowfall total of 14.3 inches set during the winter of 1933–1934.

In addition to low accumulation overall, the city has also recorded only 3.3 inches as its highest single-day snowfall this season—marking the second-lowest maximum daily snowfall in recorded history. The only season with a lower one-day snowfall total was 1933–1934, at 3.0 inches.

Unlike Utah’s northern mountain regions, where snowpack remains more typical, Salt Lake City has seen predominantly rain this winter. Weather officials remind residents that snowfall is still possible through April and May, based on historical trends.

City officials and travelers are encouraged to remain alert for late-season winter weather and monitor updates from the National Weather Service. While this season has been unusually dry, Utah’s weather can still shift rapidly during the spring months.
