Salt Lake City, Utah – A stretch of sunny skies will end this weekend as thunderstorms return to northern Utah, with the Wasatch Front facing storm risks from Saturday into Sunday night.
According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, Friday will stay mostly cloudy but dry, with highs in the low 80s. By Saturday morning, storms could begin to build, with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 9 a.m. Conditions may bring lightning and brief heavy downpours, particularly in and around Salt Lake, Davis, and Weber counties.
Saturday night holds a slight chance of lingering storms before skies partially clear, but Sunday will again bring unsettled conditions with a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms, especially before noon. Highs Sunday will top out near 79 degrees before cooling into the upper 50s overnight.
Drivers should be prepared for sudden changes in visibility during storms and avoid outdoor recreation during lightning threats. Those attending weekend events should have backup plans for delays or disruptions.
The unsettled weather clears early next week, with highs returning to the upper 70s by Monday under mostly sunny skies.
