SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Showers and thunderstorms are expected to keep much of northern Utah wet through early Saturday morning, bringing heavy downpours and a few rumbles of thunder to the Salt Lake Valley. Roads could become slick overnight as rainfall intensity peaks before daybreak Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, precipitation chances remain near 90% through Saturday morning before tapering to scattered showers by evening. Southwest winds will shift northward and calm overnight, offering a brief break in the rain late Saturday.
Sunday looks much brighter with only a slight 20% chance of lingering showers before skies clear and highs climb into the low 60s. By Monday and Tuesday, Utah will rebound under mostly sunny skies, pushing highs back into the upper 60s and low 70s.
Drivers are urged to slow down during early morning commutes and avoid flooded intersections. Those heading into the mountains should expect wet trails through Saturday morning.
Calmer, drier weather will dominate the first half of next week, but another weak system could approach by late Thursday.
