Salt Lake City, Utah – Sweltering heat will grip Salt Lake City and much of northern Utah through early next week, with high temperatures hovering in the mid-90s and virtually no cloud cover or rainfall expected.
According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, today’s high will reach 95°F, with clear skies and light winds. Saturday and Sunday will bring slightly cooler highs in the low 90s before the heat surges again Monday and Tuesday. Overnight lows will remain in the mid-to-upper 60s, offering little relief for those without air conditioning.
The extended stretch of hot, dry weather raises concerns about fire danger in foothills and canyons across Salt Lake, Davis, and Tooele counties. Light winds shifting direction through the weekend may further dry vegetation. Officials urge residents to avoid outdoor burning, secure trailer chains, and stay alert for Red Flag Warnings.
While the heat isn’t expected to break records, the duration of it increases the risk of heat exhaustion, particularly for outdoor workers, older adults, and pets. Cooling centers in Salt Lake County remain open.
This dry pattern continues into at least Thursday. No significant precipitation is forecast, and further heat advisories could be issued if temperatures climb closer to 100°F.
