A soft gray blanket of clouds hovers over Salt Lake City this morning, keeping temperatures near 43°F with a calm wind brushing down from the benches. It’s another tranquil start across northern Utah, with mostly sunny skies expected by afternoon and highs reaching near 49°F.

According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, a slight rain chance develops late Tuesday night, bringing scattered light showers to parts of the Wasatch Front. Most areas will stay dry, but any brief rain could dampen commutes on I-15 or I-80 before midnight. Rain chances fade quickly by Wednesday morning as another ridge of high pressure builds in from the west.

Through midweek, the weather remains calm and comfortable. Highs climb to 56–57°F by Thursday and Friday, well above early-December norms. Winds stay light, with only a few clouds crossing the valley sky. Nights, however, will be crisp and frosty, dipping into the mid-30s, a reminder that winter’s chill isn’t far behind.

It’s ideal weather for holiday shopping, travel, or outdoor decorating — just keep layers handy for chilly mornings and cool evenings.
