SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – A calm, cool start to Saturday gives way to brewing changes over the Wasatch, where thin morning haze and crisp 40s mark the quiet before a wetter pattern arrives. After a bright start to the weekend, clouds and scattered showers will build late Sunday, followed by a sharp cooldown and clear, colder nights heading into the new week.

According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, a Pacific disturbance will swing across northern Utah late Sunday, bringing a 50–60% chance of rain showers through the evening. Brief downpours are possible along I-15 and over the benches east of the city, with a few rumbles of thunder in the mix. Rain will taper before dawn Monday, leaving behind damp roads, falling leaves, and brisk northwest breezes.

Daytime highs will drop from the upper 60s Sunday to the lower 50s Monday. By early Tuesday, calm skies will allow temperatures to slip into the mid-30s—cold enough for patchy frost in Davis and Salt Lake Counties. Residents planning early Halloween displays or leaf cleanup should plan around Sunday’s rain window and bundle up for cooler mornings ahead.

After Monday’s chill, a stretch of sunny, calmer weather settles in through midweek, offering crisp, dry air and ideal trick-or-treating conditions by Friday evening.

Chilly November air waits just over the horizon.
