Salt Lake City, UT – A series of storm systems will move through Utah this week into early next week, bringing a mix of rain, wind, and potentially significant mountain snow by the weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City.
The first system arrives Wednesday into Thursday, targeting southern Utah with scattered showers and thunderstorms as a trough crosses the Desert Southwest. High temperatures will run about 5 degrees below seasonal norms, keeping daytime conditions cool and unsettled.
By Friday and Saturday, the weather pattern will shift briefly drier and warmer, with highs rising to near or slightly above normal. Winds will remain light Friday but could increase Saturday ahead of the next incoming front.
That second, stronger system is forecast to arrive Saturday night into Monday, potentially bringing heavy snow to the northern Utah mountains and a sharp drop in temperatures across much of the state. Some valley areas may also see light snow accumulations early next week as colder air deepens behind the front.
Forecasters urge travelers and outdoor enthusiasts to monitor updated forecasts, especially for mountain passes and recreation areas that could be impacted by the weekend storm.
