Salt Lake City, Utah – A stretch of dangerous heat is settling over northern Utah, with highs nearing 100°F by Wednesday and smoky conditions expected Monday morning. The National Weather Service warns that outdoor activity should be limited during peak afternoon hours as temperatures rise above seasonal averages.

According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, Monday will bring patchy smoke from 9 a.m. to noon, followed by sunshine and a high near 97°F. Winds will shift from southeast to southwest throughout the afternoon, with speeds up to 11 mph.

By Tuesday, expect highs in the mid-90s, with mostly clear skies continuing into the evening. The hottest day of the stretch appears to be Wednesday, with a projected high of 99°F under full sun. Heat safety is critical—residents should stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activity in the afternoon, and check on vulnerable neighbors.

West Valley City, West Jordan, and surrounding areas will see similar conditions, with little overnight relief as lows remain in the upper 60s to low 70s. Air quality could temporarily worsen Monday due to the smoke, especially for sensitive groups.

The hot pattern continues through at least Thursday, with no significant cool-down in sight.
