Salt Lake City, UT – A wet and stormy stretch is expected to move into Utah starting Wednesday, disrupting spring plans across Salt Lake City and beyond.

Rain and thunderstorms are forecast to begin midweek and continue into the weekend, bringing cooler temperatures and elevated travel risks, especially along I-15 and I-80. According to the National Weather Service, a 70% chance of showers arrives Wednesday night, with possible thunderstorms and a continued threat of rain through Friday.

Starting Wednesday afternoon, a 20% chance of light showers will increase into the evening. By Wednesday night, showers are likely and may be accompanied by a thunderstorm after midnight. Highs will hover around 74°F Wednesday before dropping sharply by Thursday. Thursday’s high will only reach 56°F, and a rain-snow mix is expected late Thursday night as lows fall near 37°F.

By Friday, rain and snow will linger before tapering off. Expect partly sunny skies with a high near 53°F, followed by cooler overnight lows in the 30s. Travelers should remain alert for slick roads and fluctuating visibility, especially during evening commutes and overpasses.
