Salt Lake City, UT – After a mild weekend, residents across Utah and southwest Wyoming should prepare for a sharp temperature drop as a cold front moves in late Sunday, bringing a notably cooler start to the new week.

According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, Monday’s afternoon highs will range between 10°F and 20°F below normal for mid-October. The chill will be most noticeable across northern Utah, where temperatures are expected to fall the furthest below seasonal averages.

The front will usher in cooler, drier air across much of the region, ending the recent stretch of mild weather. Forecasters note that southern Utah will see highs about 10°F below normal, while northern Utah and southwest Wyoming could experience a more dramatic dip—up to 20°F below normal.

No major precipitation is expected with this system, but gusty winds and brisk conditions will make Monday feel even colder. Temperatures are forecast to gradually rebound to near-normal levels by midweek.

Residents are advised to dress warmly for Monday morning commutes and outdoor activities, as temperatures may feel more like late November than October.
