Salt Lake City, Utah – Temperatures in northern Utah will push dangerously close to triple digits by Monday afternoon, with highs in Salt Lake City forecast to hit 99°F — the hottest day of the week.

According to the National Weather Service, a stretch of hot, dry weather begins Monday, July 14, and extends through Friday, July 18. Daytime highs will stay in the mid to upper 90s across the Salt Lake Valley, with only slight overnight relief as lows dip into the upper 60s and low 70s. Commuters traveling along I-15 and I-80 should prepare for hot pavement, vehicle strain, and increased risk of heat-related illness during peak travel hours.

Public safety officials urge residents to stay indoors during the afternoon, hydrate frequently, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Outdoor work should be rescheduled for early morning or after sunset, especially Monday through Wednesday when highs will hover between 96°F and 99°F.

The only brief break in the pattern may come Tuesday night, with a slight chance (10%) of thunderstorms. However, no widespread precipitation is expected, and fire danger will remain elevated.
