Salt Lake City, UT – Residents in western and southern Utah should prepare for hazardous winds today, with gusts reaching up to 55 mph in some areas.
According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, a Wind Advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday for Western Millard and Juab Counties, as well as parts of Southwest Utah including Delta, Beaver, Little Sahara, Milford, and Cedar City.
Forecasters said sustained south winds between 20 and 30 mph are expected, with stronger gusts near Cedar City and Milford. The advisory warns of possible scattered power outages and dangerous travel conditions, especially for high-profile vehicles and trailers.
“Winds this strong can make driving difficult,” the agency cautioned. Loose outdoor objects may also be blown around, creating additional hazards.
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) urged drivers to check road conditions before traveling. Real-time updates are available at udottraffic.utah.gov.
