Provo, UT – A High Wind Warning remains in effect for Utah Valley through 10 p.m. Saturday, as northwest winds between 30 and 40 mph with gusts exceeding 60 mph continue to impact the region, according to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City.
The strongest winds are occurring across northern Utah County, including Provo, Lehi, and Payson, following a cold front that moved through earlier this evening.
According to the NWS, the powerful winds could move loose debris, damage property, and cause power outages. Drivers of high-profile vehicles and trailers are especially urged to use caution as travel conditions may become hazardous.
Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor objects, such as trash bins, patio furniture, and decorations, to prevent damage or injury.
Winds are expected to gradually diminish later tonight as the front exits the area, but forecasters say gusty conditions could linger into the overnight hours.
