Salt Lake City, Utah – Utah’s summer heat is ramping up, with Salt Lake City expected to hit 95°F by Friday and peak at 96°F on Sunday and again Monday. With prolonged high temperatures forecast through July 1, residents across the Wasatch Front should take precautions to avoid heat-related illness and energy strain.
According to the National Weather Service, the heat dome will intensify across northern Utah beginning Friday, with southeast winds picking up in the afternoons and overnight lows lingering near 65°F. The stretch of hot, dry weather has prompted local officials to remind residents to avoid outdoor activity during peak heat (2–6 p.m.), especially on exposed roadways like I-15 and I-80.
Sunny skies dominate the forecast through early next week, offering no break from the heat. Friday through Monday will see highs in the mid-90s, with only minor cloud cover Monday night. By Tuesday and Wednesday, temperatures are expected to hover around 96°F with partly cloudy skies offering limited relief.
Salt Lake County Health Department recommends using city cooling centers or shaded public parks. Officials have not yet issued an Excessive Heat Warning but advise staying alert for updated advisories.
