Salt Lake City, Utah – Utah residents should brace for a long stretch of sweltering, dry heat starting Thursday as highs push into the mid-90s by the weekend, with little relief overnight.

According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, temperatures on Thursday, July 10, will reach near 89°F, followed by 90°F Friday, and surging to 94°F Saturday. By Tuesday, highs could hit 98°F — the hottest stretch of the season so far. Clear skies and calm winds will dominate, but the persistent heat poses elevated fire danger, heat-related illness risk, and road surface fatigue, especially along I-15 and exposed urban corridors.

Outdoor activity should be limited during peak hours. Stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and check on vulnerable neighbors or pets.

The five-day outlook remains consistently hot and dry:

  • Thursday: Sunny, high near 89°F
  • Friday: High of 90°F, calm wind
  • Saturday: Sunny and hotter, reaching 94°F
  • Sunday: Near 96°F under full sun
  • Monday: High of 97°F, with limited overnight cooling

Evening lows hover in the mid-to-upper 60s, offering minimal overnight relief. Nights like Monday (70°F low) offer no real cooldown, making this a summer weather alert period for households without reliable A/C.

This is Utah’s first prolonged July heat stretch, and the NWS warns that temperatures could continue rising into midweek. Keep cooling systems serviced and avoid strenuous afternoon activity. More advisories could follow if conditions worsen.
