Salt Lake City, Utah – Summer heat returns to northern Utah this week, with Tuesday afternoon highs reaching 84°F and climbing to 96°F by Friday. Salt Lake City residents should prepare now for a multi-day stretch of hot, dry conditions that could strain outdoor workers, road crews, and vulnerable populations.

According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, Tuesday will be partly sunny with light winds from the northwest at 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon. Overnight lows will remain mild, hovering near 57°F. Conditions stay dry, with little relief expected until at least Sunday.

High pressure will dominate midweek, pushing temperatures to 87°F on Wednesday and 95°F Thursday. By Friday, highs are forecast to peak near 96°F. Winds will stay light, but the rising heat and clear skies could worsen urban heat island effects and impact those without air conditioning.

Drivers on I-15 and I-80 should check their vehicle cooling systems and avoid travel during peak heat hours. Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated, wear lightweight clothing, and limit strenuous activity outdoors between 1 and 5 p.m.

No rain is expected this week, and UV levels will be high each afternoon. The next significant pattern shift isn’t expected until early next week.

⚠️ Stay weather-aware as heat builds across northern Utah.
