Salt Lake City, UT – A winter weather advisory is in effect for parts of Utah and southwest Wyoming, with snow, strong winds, and hazardous travel conditions expected through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Salt Lake City, snowfall will begin Friday night and continue through Sunday morning. Areas in southwest Wyoming, including Evanston and Lyman, could see 2 to 5 inches of snow, with winds gusting up to 45 mph. Visibility may be significantly reduced due to blowing snow.

In Utah, the Wasatch Back, including Park City, Heber City, and Huntsville, is forecast to receive 2 to 7 inches of snow by Saturday evening. The Ogden Valley could see the highest totals. Wet and heavy snow may mix with rain late Saturday, and there is a slight chance of freezing rain Saturday morning.

The Wasatch Plateau and Book Cliffs region will experience heavier snowfall, with 6 to 12 inches expected from Saturday morning through Sunday evening. Snow levels will rise throughout Sunday, reaching 8,500 feet by the afternoon.

The Bear Lake and Bear River Valley areas will also see 3 to 6 inches of wet snow, with a mix of rain possible by Sunday afternoon.

Drivers should expect slick roads and reduced visibility. The Utah and Wyoming Departments of Transportation advise motorists to check road conditions before traveling at UDOT Traffic or Wyoming 511.
