Utah – A brief, subtle shake rippled through parts of southern Utah early this morning, catching attention near Milford as a minor earthquake struck just miles from key travel routes.

According to the University of Utah Seismograph Stations, a magnitude 2.5 earthquake hit about 14 kilometers northeast of Milford at a shallow depth of roughly 2.7 kilometers. The tremor occurred early this morning and was centered near the Fishlake National Forest region, not far from the I-15 corridor.

Across Beaver County and surrounding rural areas, shaking was likely weak and short-lived. Events of this size are typically felt as a quick jolt or vibration, if noticed at all. No damage or injuries have been reported, and impacts to infrastructure remain unlikely.

Drivers along I-15 between Beaver and Fillmore should not expect any disruptions. Roads, bridges, and overpasses remain unaffected. Still, minor quakes like this serve as reminders to stay prepared. Secure loose items at home and review basic earthquake safety steps, especially in seismically active regions of Utah.

Seismologists continue to monitor the area for aftershocks, though none are guaranteed with quakes of this magnitude. Activity in this part of Utah is not uncommon due to regional fault systems.

For now, conditions remain calm across southern Utah with no ongoing seismic concerns. Additional updates will be issued if any further activity develops.
