Eagle Mountain, UT – A serious head-on crash along State Route 73 near Eagle Mountain Boulevard left one person hospitalized and another in custody Friday night, according to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say the collision happened around 7 p.m. when a driver pulling a trailer entered SR-73 in front of an eastbound truck. The two vehicles collided head-on, leaving the eastbound driver with potentially serious injuries. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The driver who pulled onto the highway was arrested at the scene and is being booked into the Utah County Jail on DUI-related charges. Authorities say the roadway was temporarily impacted as emergency crews responded and cleared debris.
Photos from the sheriff’s office show extensive front-end damage to both vehicles, along with scattered debris from the crash site. Traffic was later reopened after the scene was cleared.
The Utah County Sheriff’s Office reminds drivers to never drink and drive and to always use caution on high-speed rural roadways.
