Washington – Today marks the final official day of summer across the United States, with the astronomical start of fall arriving tomorrow. While cooler mornings and earlier sunsets are already being felt in many regions, the shift to Standard Time won’t happen until November.

According to the National Weather Service, the autumn equinox begins tomorrow, bringing nearly equal hours of daylight and darkness across the country. This marks the astronomical start of fall, even though meteorologists often track the season by monthly averages that began September 1.

Daylight Saving Time continues through the first weekend of November, when Americans will “fall back” at 2 a.m. Sunday, November 2, turning clocks back one hour. That adjustment will push sunsets earlier by the clock, making evenings darker sooner nationwide.

For now, the focus is on the change of season. Farmers, schools, and travelers across the country may notice cooler mornings and shorter days creeping in as fall officially begins. Safety officials encourage residents to start preparing for the darker months ahead, from checking vehicle lights to planning for reduced evening visibility.

Fall is here tomorrow, but the clocks won’t shift until November.
